| Departed | |

| Amidst the chaos and the tears
when everything seemed somehow wrong,
the thoughts I had were of a song
I hadn't heard in many years.
There came to mind that summer day.
It was early afternoon, some time in late July.
Dark, pensive clouds loomed low, and I -
I was begging you to stay.
You sang to me in soft-spoke voice
this tune that even now I can recall.
"...where life has led, you find a wall.
Where next? You have a choice.
"You can run from truth and seek the past
or face your fear and overcome the pain.
For though we try, nothing can remain the same -
and not everything can last."
I knew then what it was you meant,
though it broke my heart I said goodbye.
The wall that seemed at first too high
in time was crumbling sent.
And now my turn to leave has come -
an unwanted turn, but one I must take.
Each day I hope that my mistakes
will be the only ones -
that you will learn and avoid my fate
when all is said and done.
